One theme for two days of intellectual delight with exceptional guests.
Three talks, a round table, times for free-flowing discussion, a meeting with an artist and a visit to the Estate’s exhibitions, all in the green comfort of a hotel of art and nature, enhanced by the delicately local cuisine of Guillaume Foucault, the chef at Le Grand Chaume.
Come and listen to and talk with figures from culture, the arts and the sciences.
In 2023, the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire created its Arts and Nature Think Tank. For more than 15 years, the institution has pursued an original cultural adventure linking heritage, art, gardens and landscape. The time has come to give voice to the convictions and commitments that underpin the Estate’s work.
For those who are stimulated by the exchange of ideas and points of view, the Estate has devised the Conversations sous l’arbre, a series of encounters with figures from the world of art and thought. Authors, scientists, artists, philosophers and landscape architects will come to present and share their vision of the world, as well as convivial moments.
Conceived with a view to passing on knowledge and experience, these gatherings complement and echo the Estate’s events. The Conversations sous l’arbre have just one aim: to set thought in motion in an inspiring and open setting.

Programme for the two-day residential seminar
Participants are welcomed on Thursday in the late morning. Time is set aside to settle in at the Bois des Chambres, followed by a welcome and a presentation of news from the Estate. The Conversations sous l’arbre are then officially opened and celebrated in a convivial spirit with a shared lunch. At 14:00, a first speaker is invited to take the floor, followed by a discussion. A break in mid-afternoon is followed by a second talk and a discovery of the exhibitions. At nightfall, a dinner devised by chef Guillaume Foucault is served at the Grand Chaume. The next day, the third Conversation begins at 9:30 and gives way to a meeting with an artist at 11:00. The early afternoon is devoted to a cultural activity (screening, reading or music) before the final Conversation bringing together the 4 guests and the participants. At 16:30, Chantal Colleu-Dumond closes the Conversations with a surprising snack.
