The tree has towered over humanity since its origins. While mythological tales and chansons de geste bear witness to its symbolic power, the tree has also provided man with the means of his subsistence and development. It has regulated his ecosystem, served to warm him, protect him, equip him and transport him and, an immeasurable gift, has allowed him not only to breathe freely but also to spread his thought and knowledge on a continental scale. Yet without caring for any of his debts, or even offering the slightest thanks, modern man has abused it. He has drastically reduced its territory, causing many environmental and human disasters. A mistreatment that has finally drawn everyone’s attention.
